Increase Website Traffic… Yea Right!

Some things are easier said than done. I went to one of those online business workshops. The ticket was a whopping $1,000 to attend. I paid 100% of my hard earned cash and received 50% of the truth. In a nutshell the speaker was saying if you build it they would come. It never dawned on me at the time that the speaker never mentioned anything about how to increase website traffic. Hey he was the expert – I had no reason not to trust him.

I went home with vision of quitting my job dancing through my head. I built my first website and checked my sales everyday. No increase website traffic. Weeks later I come to realize that the only person visiting my website was me! I purchased a program that said that I could email millions of prospects and increase my website traffic for $99. I couldn’t grab my credit card fast enough. The software was simple to use. All you had to do is enter your keyword and the program would go out and collect millions of email addresses.

I spent a few hours writing the perfect sales letter. Once I was done I copy and pasted it into my new software. I never thought that pressing a send button could feel so good. All day at work I was like a child on Christmas Eve. I couldn’t wait to see what the results were. Five O’clock finally rolled around. I made it home and couldn’t believe my eyes. This software really worked. I finally saw an increase in my website traffic. I had made over $2,000. I was ready to quit my job, since I was an all or nothing type of guy – I turned in my resignation. Two weeks later I was officially self-employed.

About two months later I had received a letter in the mail from the attorney general. I was in trouble for spamming. I didn’t realize that I had done anything wrong, but I guess that didn’t matter. Wait it gets worse… I also had several ISP companies pressing charges against me. It took me two years to get everything cleared up. I survived the storm. I had lost my car, condo, and my wife.

Although I it wasn’t funny then, I see the since of humor in it now. I ended up working right back at the same job that I had quit a few years ago. Since then I have dedicated myself to learning everything there was to know about increasing your website traffic. I am constantly testing, testing, testing.
I then share that information with those who are new to online businesses. I wouldn’t wish what had happened to me on anyone. It was a horrible experience. Online you have to be extremely careful with who you trust. As well as who you decide to do business with.
